Profit per order
Profitable$18.33
Gross order revenue minus modeled Etsy fees and seller operating costs for a completed sale.
Estimate Etsy fees, net proceeds, profit, and the item price you need for break-even or a target margin. The United States Etsy Payments model uses official Etsy documentation. This is an estimate, not an Etsy invoice.
Profit For Sellers is not affiliated with Etsy. United States rates were last verified 2026-09-08. The primary result models a completed sale. Buyer sales tax, gift wrap, Pattern, Etsy Ads, VAT on seller fees, and currency conversion are not estimated unless you enter them as costs. Listing charges are allocated $0.20 per sold quantity for order profitability; that is not the same as a per-order sales commission and does not reproduce every listing lifecycle charge.

Item revenue = item price × quantity. Gross order revenue = item revenue + shipping charged to the buyer.
Transaction fee = gross order revenue × transaction rate. Payment processing = gross order revenue × processing rate + fixed fee (once per order). Regulatory fee = gross order revenue × regulatory rate. Listing allocation = listing amount × quantity sold.
Offsite Ads fee = min(gross order revenue × Offsite Ads rate, cap). The cap is per attributed order. Total Etsy fees are the sum of listing allocation, transaction, processing, regulatory, and Offsite Ads fees.
Seller operating costs = product cost × quantity + fulfillment + packaging + other variable cost + allocated advertising. Profit = gross order revenue − total Etsy fees − seller operating costs. Net proceeds after Etsy fees = gross order revenue − total Etsy fees.
Profit margin and effective Etsy fee rate divide by gross order revenue when that amount is greater than zero. Break-even and target-margin item prices use the same fee function, including the Offsite Ads cap, and return the minimum nonnegative item price. Monthly figures multiply this order by the volume you enter.
The default model is a United States Etsy Payments seller calculating in USD. Buyer sales tax is not added to gross revenue. Gift wrap, personalization add-ons, Pattern, Etsy Ads, VAT on seller fees, deposit fees, and currency conversion are outside the automatic model.
Listing cost is allocated per sold quantity for order profitability. Etsy listing charges are listing and renewal based; unsold expired listings and other lifecycle timing are not reproduced automatically.
Offsite Ads modes assume the order is attributed. They do not estimate the chance of attribution. The primary profit result is a completed sale, not an expected-value refund rate.
Item price, quantity, buyer-paid shipping, product cost, fulfillment, packaging, other variable cost, allocated advertising, sourced or user-entered Etsy fee components, Offsite Ads modes with an order-level cap, target margin price, break-even item price, and optional monthly scaling.
Automatic non-US currency conversion, buyer sales tax, gift wrap, Etsy Ads auction bids, Pattern, shipping labels, shop setup fees, deposit fees, VAT on seller services, expected refund rates, and country presets that would require invented foreign-exchange rates.
Enter the price and quantity you sold, what the buyer paid for shipping, and your costs. For United States Etsy Payments, the transaction rate, processing schedule, listing allocation, regulatory rate, and Offsite Ads cap come from official Etsy documentation last verified 2026-09-08. The engine then estimates fees, net proceeds, profit, margin, and the item prices that break even or hit your target margin.
On a sample completed US order of $55.00 gross, this model estimates $5.68 in Etsy fees and $18.33 profit (33.3% margin). Your numbers will differ.
Etsy documents a 6.5% transaction fee on the total order amount in the listing currency, including shipping and gift wrapping if you charge for those. This calculator applies that rate to item revenue plus buyer-paid shipping. It does not add gift wrap unless you put that amount into price or shipping. The transaction fee is separate from Etsy Payments processing.
Etsy publishes listing charges in USD at $0.20 per listing, with additional $0.20 charges when auto-renewed listings sell extra quantity. Those charges are listing and renewal based, not a checkout commission on the order total. For order-level profitability this calculator allocates $0.20 to each sold quantity in the US model. That does not perfectly match the timing of every listing lifecycle charge, and expired unsold listings are outside the automatic per-order result.
Processing fees vary by the location of the seller's bank account. The United States schedule used here is 3% plus $0.25 USD per order. The percentage applies to the modeled order amount; the fixed fee applies once per payment, not once per quantity. Etsy notes that processing can include sales tax when tax is charged. This estimate does not add buyer sales tax, so actual processing can differ by jurisdiction.
If an order is attributed to Offsite Ads, Etsy documents a 15% fee when a shop has always made less than $10,000 USD in any consecutive 365-day period, and a 12% fee after that threshold. The fee on an individual order is capped at $100 USD. Choosing 12% or 15% here models an attributed order; it does not predict attribution, opt-out eligibility, or whether participation is required for a shop.
Etsy charges a regulatory operating fee in some countries, as a percentage of item price plus shipping (and gift wrap where applicable). The United States is not on that list in the official article used here, so the US model uses 0%. Non-US rates are not auto-applied in v1 because they must be paired with accurate processing, listing, and currency treatment.
Start with what the buyer paid for items and shipping. Subtract modeled Etsy fees and your costs. What remains is profit on that completed order. Profit margin is that profit divided by gross order revenue. The effective Etsy fee rate is total modeled Etsy fees divided by the same gross amount. A 6.5% transaction fee is only one component of the effective rate, which also includes listing allocation, processing, regulatory, and Offsite Ads when selected.
The break-even item price is the lowest nonnegative per-unit price that leaves profit at or above zero, holding quantity, shipping, costs, and fee assumptions fixed. When Offsite Ads are off, or the solution stays under the cap, the relationship is linear. When the $100 cap matters, the solver uses the same piecewise fee function as the main result instead of ignoring the cap. If shipping charged to the buyer already covers costs at a $0 item price, the result is $0 as a floor, not necessarily an exact zero-profit point. If fees make a nonnegative solution impossible, the price is shown as not applicable.
Target-margin price is the lowest nonnegative item price where profit divided by gross order revenue meets your target. It uses the same fee function and Offsite Ads cap as profit and break-even. If the target is higher than the economics can support even as price rises, the result is not applicable. If a $0 item price already meets the target because of shipping revenue, the calculator returns $0 as the minimum nonnegative price.
The primary profit result models a completed order. It does not apply an expected refund rate. Etsy documents that when you refund through Shop Manager, applicable transaction and payment-processing fees for the refunded amount can be credited, and that canceling as well can credit listing fees. Refunds outside that process, chargebacks, and inventory you cannot resell can change the seller's loss. Those cases are not turned into a single automatic rate here.
It does not invent live exchange rates, auto-fill dozens of country presets, estimate buyer sales tax, or treat Etsy Ads bids as Offsite Ads. It does not include Pattern, shipping labels, shop setup fees, deposit fees, or VAT on seller services. Currency conversion fees that Etsy may assess when listing and payout currencies differ are not applied automatically.

It depends on the order. United States Etsy Payments typically combine a 6.5% transaction fee, 3% + $0.25 processing, listing economics, and Offsite Ads only if the order is attributed. The effective rate on the sample US order above is 10.3%, which is not the same as 6.5%.
Etsy documents 6.5% of the total order amount in the listing currency, including shipping and gift wrapping you charge. It is separate from payment processing.
Yes for the transaction fee, which Etsy says applies to shipping you charge. Processing is also taken from the sale including shipping. This calculator includes buyer-paid shipping in those bases.
Etsy publishes $0.20 USD per listing (and related renewal and extra-quantity charges). This tool allocates $0.20 per sold quantity in the US model so you can see listing cost in order profit. It is not billed as a percentage of the sale.
On an attributed order they add 12% or 15% of the order amount, capped at $100 USD per order. Unattributed orders do not take that advertising fee. The calculator can show the difference versus the same order with no Offsite Ads fee.
Etsy fees are what the platform model subtracts. Profit margin is what remains after those fees and your own costs, divided by gross order revenue. You can have a modest effective Etsy fee rate and still lose money if product and ads are high.
Enter costs, quantity, shipping, and Offsite Ads mode. The break-even item price is solved from the same fee function as profit, including the Offsite Ads cap when it applies.
No. Processing fees vary by bank-account country. Regulatory operating fees apply in some countries. Listing amounts are published in USD and converted by Etsy when the payment currency differs. This version auto-calculates the US/USD schedule only.
No. Buyer sales tax is omitted from the US reference model. Income tax, VAT on seller fees, and duties are not estimated. If you bear a tax amount, add it as another cost.
Etsy states that qualifying Shop Manager refunds can credit transaction and processing fees on the refunded amount, and that canceling can credit listing fees. This calculator does not replace that with an expected refund percentage. The main result is a completed sale.
