Marketplaces
Seller economics differ across platforms because each marketplace can combine fees differently. Transaction or referral fees, payment processing, listing fees, advertising or affiliate commissions, and platform-specific refund treatment do not collapse into one universal percentage. Category-dependent rates can change the take-rate again. Profit For Sellers is not affiliated with Shopify, Etsy, TikTok, or other marketplaces. Marketplace fee values are never invented.
Why marketplace-specific calculators exist
A single “platform fee” field is useful when you already know the rate you want to model. It is a poor substitute when the platform publishes distinct components—for example Shopify Payments versus third-party transaction fees, Etsy listing allocation plus Offsite Ads on attributed orders, or TikTok Shop referral fees with optional creator commission. Marketplace-specific calculators encode those sourced structures so you do not have to reconstruct them from memory on every estimate.
Platform fee schedules can change. Always verify current official platform documentation for your account, market, and category. Each marketplace calculator that ships sourced presets shows its last-verified date and cited sources on the calculator page. Site-wide rules for sourcing and updates are on methodology.
